Hi Falcons,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I am so delighted to be returning to the schoolhouse this school year. I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome your student(s) to Redland Christian Academy. My name is Barbara Carrillo. This will be my 19th year teaching. I am a graduate of Barry University where I received both my Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree.
We are all curious about something. Science is simply investigating the questions that matter to us by physically doing something to learn. Students ask so many good questions and many of us learn best by touching and experimenting with real stuff, reading, watching, or listening. My goal is to reach each modality. We want our students to think about the world, to solve problems, and hands-on science is a tool for teaching problem solving, offering real context, and making the neural connections that enhance creativity and critical thinking.
We have many expectations for our students at Redland Christian Academy. One of the biggest is being responsible for assignments and actions. Each student is responsible for completing and turning in each assignment. I intend to address any learning gaps my students may have experienced during the 2020-2021 school year.
I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teachers, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.
It is my goal for each of my students to experience success and to foster a love of science. I am thrilled to work with you and your child over the course of the school year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email me at bcarrillo@redlandchristianacademy.org or call me at 786-471-6887. I look forward to seeing our students soon!!
See you soon,
Mrs. Carrillo
