Hello my name is Ms. Ary Hidalgo-Botta, and I am extremely excited to be part of Redland Christian Academy this school year! This year I will be instructing various levels of Spanish as well as Language Arts for 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
I was born in Manhattan, New York and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. I am Puerto Rican and speak, read, and write Spanish fluently. My parents are both from Puerto Rico, who later moved to New York City. I attended Springfield College where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree. For the past 10 years I have worked in the educational arena. I was an Educational Advisor for seven years in the public sector in Springfield Massachusetts, and worked at one of the Bill Gates Charter schools. My position as an Educational Advisor allowed me the opportunity to develop and implement many programs to help students excel academically in order to adequately prepare them for higher education.
Four years ago my family and I moved from Massachusetts to the Sunshine State. I have since dedicated the past three years to teaching. My experience ranges within a variety of different grade levels which include elementary through high school.
My passion is to serve Christ first and foremost, but God has placed in my heart a desire to help youngsters achieve and succeed. I fulfill this desire in the form of teaching. The Bible says that teachers are held to a higher standard therefore, I take my job very seriously. Not only do I instruct courses necessary for life, but I am also planting seeds in the hearts and minds of every child and family I come across—hoping to leave a little Jesus everyone. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” This is my desire.
My educational philosophy/what to expect:
It is essential that a teacher ensures he/she provides a whole education and is aware of each students' psychological, social, emotional and physical development as well as their cognitive growth. This will allow a teacher to meet the specific needs of each child.
It is my belief that educating a child is a partnership that is developed between the student, parents and teacher. Parents and teachers are an essential component that provide the consistency and structure necessary to help cultivate the learning process.
In order to meet the various learning preferences of each student it is important to use methods that offer the opportunity to incorporate and apply kinesthetic, visual, and auditory techniques. Using a variety of approaches is important to maintain students engaged in the learning process, and to ensure that learning is taking place. Therefore, my classroom will consist of a combination of teaching methodologies such as cooperative learning opportunities, hands-on approach, and some use of technology.
In my class students should expect to be challenged within their capacity. Every student is able to reach their full potential when properly stimulated and encouraged. My goal is to provide the most important tools to their academic and overall success—self-assurance and empowerment. Once they have these critical tools they will exceed in all areas and beyond all expectations. Learning isn’t just the ability to reproduce what was learned proficiently—it is the belief that one can.
With this said, my classroom will always be a safe, God fearing, and inviting environment where each student will be inspired to set and attain goals, to achieve the highest level possible, and to grow both academically as well as spiritually.
