Dear Parents and Students of Redland Christian Academy,
It is my privilege to teach the computer technology classes at Redland Christian Academy. I am a veteran of over 30 years teaching experience in the public school systems of Illinois (29), Tennessee (1), and Florida (11). I am currently in my ninth year at Redland Christian Academy.
Once again is time to start another year of learning at Redland Christian Academy. On behalf of the school, I would like to welcome each of you to the new year.
I am Mr. Ken Hane, Computer Instructor, Boys basketball coach and Athletic Director. I have been privileged to be a part of the Redland Christian Academy staff for the past eight years and I have totally enjoyed the opportunity to work, through God and with God’s help to teach the students in the computer lab and guide the boys on the athletic court.
Each year, we try to add to our curriculum in the classroom to give the students a more rounded computer knowledge and ability to use the computer. This year will be no exception. We are in the process of going through each of the 25 computers in the lab, cleaning the hard drives and establishing new programs to be used in the new year.
We have several levels of computer training, from Pre-K all the way through the 12th Grade. Each level will be presented with programs and tasks to meet the challenges of their level. We will continue to use computer keyboarding skills programs to aid the students in becoming more proficient in the use of the computer. These programs are also designed for each level and their abilities.
Also, we are in the process of attempting to use technology from the web so each student will have the same advantage while working in the classroom. Because we use the lab and many of our programs are based on the computers in that lab, we usually do not require homework. The work can be done in the classroom in the time allotted.
As for the athletic program, we strive to excel amongst those schools of our comparable size and state district affiliation. Over the past few years, we have done just that. Our programs have grown, our athletes have increased in numbers and their abilities have improved tremendously. In the past our volleyball teams have been very successful winning various districts and a regional tournament. Two years ago, our boys basketball team won our district and competed in the district. Last year, our girls basketball team was a district winner and competed in the regional. Our girls softball team has made great strides over that past few years. Our boys baseball team has likewise begun to show much improvement. We want, through God’s direction and leadership continue this trend of improvement.
Currently we are in the process of adding yet another sport, 7 man football. This form of football is much less expensive that the basic football. It can be played with much less equipment and fewer players than conventional football. There are several schools now involved in 7 man football and many more becoming so in the immediate area. There is also a conference of Christian Schools in the state of Florida that was organized to promote 7 man football and it is our hope to eventually find ourselves competing in the league.
Again, I welcome each of you and I am looking forward to working with you during the upcoming school year.
If you have any questions about our computer classes or our athletic program, you can email me at email@example.com. I will be happy to attempt to answer any questions you might have.
Yours in God,
